Urgent Alert Regarding Michigan No-Fault Auto Insurance Changes

You have probably heard about changes to the Michigan No-Fault law. Here are the four most important things to remember
as the July 2, 2020, deadline approaches:
1. Watch the mail for your pre-renewal package: Your pre-renewal package will arrive 30 to 90 days before your policy renewal date. It will include a policy summary and the Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and Bodily Injury (BI) election forms you will need to complete and return if you wish to make changes to either.
2. Determine your Bodily Injury (BI) and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) limit. While it might be tempting to choose lower PIP limits, MDA Insurance recommends that policyholders continue to carry unlimited PIP on their auto policies after July 2, 2020. MDA Insurance also recommends that policyholders carry no less than $500,000 per person/$500,000 per accident BI limits and consider purchasing a personal umbrella.
3. Open and read your auto insurance renewal carefully. With critical changes already in effect and more to come, it is important to review your auto insurance policy. If you do not fully understand how your coverage has changed or the impact it may have on you, contact your agent immediately.
4. Stay informed. For the most reliable and current information on these changes, call MDA Insurance at 800-860-2272 and speak with one of our personal lines agents.
