It’s time to get ready for health care open enrollment season

Open enrollment for 2022’s MDA Health Plan begins Oct. 1 and ends Nov. 15. During that time, plan sponsors can change the plans offered to their employees, modify the waiting period to join the plan, change when coverage terminates for former employees, and change how much, if anything, they contribute to the monthly cost of the health plan. Employees are able join the plan, change their health plan selection, and add eligible family members to the plan. All changes made during open enrollment are effective Jan. 1, 2022.

MDA Insurance develops open enrollment information for each participating practice based on the eligibility verification materials that were due back from plan sponsors Aug. 6. Plan sponsors who have yet to return the eligibility verification information should do so immediately so the open enrollment packets can be prepared. Call 877-906-9924 for assistance if needed.
Open enrollment for individual health insurance, such as MyBlue plans, begins Nov. 1 and concludes Nov. 15. During this time, individuals can join a plan or change their plan for 2022, and add eligible family members to their plans for next year.

Those aged 65 and older will want to pay attention to the Medicare Annual Election Period, which begins Oct. 15 and ends Dec. 7. See the article below for more information on the last 2021 Medicare seminar being held Sept. 24.
