Help local employers and your practice with an in-office plan

If your patient base includes business owners and if you offer an in-office dental plan, there is a big opportunity for your practice to become the dentist of choice for those patients’ employees. Speak with your contacts in the local business community about your in-office dental plan and explain how their employees’ oral health care needs can be met by your office at less cost than traditional dental insurance.
Dental insurance is expensive for both the employer and employee. Insurance can actually present a barrier to treatment, due to limitations, waiting periods, pre-existing conditions, exclusions, low annual treatment limits, and out-of-pocket costs for copays. Many employees also contribute to the premium. Cosmetic treatments are excluded by most insurance plans, and some still do not address implants.
With an in-office dental plan, the employer can pay a fixed cost per employee, per month (and potentially for dependents), and the employees can get preventive care and receive a significant discount, which you can establish, for any further treatments, including major procedures and cosmetic dentistry. This answers everyone’s needs: The employer offers a solid benefit, the employee receives quality care and realizes savings on procedures, and you build your patient base and referral network. You also avoid the hassle of filing claims and waiting to receive payment from insurers.
Before you can implement this strategy, you need to have an in-office dental plan. Fortunately, the MDA endorses Quality Dental Plan. It’s easy to get started as QDP assists members with the creation, administration and marketing of in-office dental plans. QDP includes a Business Enroll feature that takes care of the complicated human resources and accounting compliance of offering an in-office plan to employers so you don’t have to. Importantly, MDA members who use QDP will be paying the lowest rates in the industry to participate in an in-office dental plan platform: only 75 cents per patient, per month. Now is the time to get an in-office plan established in your practice and to begin discussing this opportunity with your employer patients.
