The MDA Health Plan Open Enrollment is Fast Approaching, Oct. 1

Open Enrollment for the MDA Health Plan begins Oct. 1 and concludes Nov. 15 for benefits effective Jan. 1, 2019. The open enrollment period is the only time you can change your plan design, the number of hours employees must work to be eligible for the plan, the waiting period to join the plan, how much you contribute to the plan and when employees are terminated from the plan after they leave your employment. With nearly 4,000 participants, the self-insured MDA Health Plan is now in its fourth year, having been established for MDA members and their employees in late 2014.

In early July, rate renewal certifications for 2019 were mailed to participating practices. We use this information to confirm eligibility, non-discrimination compliance and to prepare your rate and plan renewal package for 2019. It is important that you complete and return this information to us no later than Aug. 31. Early submitters receive their information sooner and have more time to evaluate choices.
If you are new to the MDA Health Plan or are considering joining, there are even more reasons to join now! In 2017, several new and exciting program changes were made. We now offer 12 plan options, including two plans designed specifically for the dentists and their staff who value and lead healthy, active lives. The Living Fit health plans provide alternative benefits like massage therapy, acupuncture and exercise reward incentives. We have also provided dentists more rigorous online management of their health plans through the EaseCentral portal. Groups can easily manage and onboard new members to their group plans, as well as manage staff’s personal and vacation time.
MDA members who are employers can establish an MDA Health Plan for their group at any time and your employees can join during the initial enrollment period or if they have a subsequent qualifying event.
